Hillary - Dad's twin

This is a photo, courtesy of Vallerie's facebook profile, of Mom and Dad at Uncle Bruce's wedding. Could Hillary look ANYMORE like Dad? Wow! Practically twins.

Yup - I've Got Pineo Blood Running Through My Veins

I have the compulsion to buy one of every color when I find a piece of clothing I like. Without fail - I always have that impulse. But my wallet can not support that impulse - which is probably a good thing. When you have a bunch of the same style clothing it makes the wardrobe a little boring.

Anyone remember how Mom used to do that - buy one of every color in clothing, shoes and jewelry? Mom was nothing if not color coordinated. :) And I believe my aunts have this same disposition so that's why I attribute it to Mom's side of the family in general.

Thinking about Dad

I was watching this documentary on the Irish in America and I saw some guys with long mustaches - reminded me of Dad when his mustache was like that. As I got to think about Dad I was remembering the time he came to my apt. with Dawn and Hillary to fix up Jazzmin's bedroom. At one point Dad and I went to the corner store to get beer (so unlike Dad, I know). What struck me that day was how the guy at the counter benevolently treated Dad like an old man. It startled me at that moment because I had never once thought of Dad as old or had I ever witnessed anybody treated him as old. It was just weird. Part of me felt bad to witness that - I imagine everybody wrestles with the concept of going from a regular adult to people starting to treat you as a geriatric. I felt bad because I wonder how it must've made Dad feel to transition into being looked at in that way. Dad didn't appear to mind being treated like an old man by the counter guy though.

Boston Bound

Here's a picture Val sent me a few minutes ago of Ilsa, Jazz and Ellie in the back seat of the car - on their way to Boston. Final destination - Western Springs, IL.

Notice the rabbit ears from Ilsa - Dad's influence lives on....

Fruity Want Some Chocolate

There was an article in the paper this morning stating that chocolate (esp. dark chocolate) is beneficial for fetuses and pregnant women. So, Hillary, give fruity what he/she really wants - CHOCOLATE!! YUMMY!!!

Jazz's Sister, America's Next Top Model?

Jazzmin's sister, Jeanette (see picture), auditioned for the TV show "America's Next Top Model" about 3 weeks ago. Apparently all she did was appear before them listing her name, height and weight.

It would be really cool if she got on the show! But I think she's a size 6 and models are usually a size 2 - so we'll see what happens!

Memoriam for Mom in Newspaper

I saw in the death notices in a NY paper that they had a small chunk dedicated to a memoriam for anniversaries of people's passing. Wanted to do it for mom and dad. I already contacted the Concord Monitor about pricing. I was thinking of putting:

"Beatrice Pineo Holloway - 18th year in heaven. Greatly loved and sorely missed. Love, Jennifer"

I was thinking of putting it from Brenda, Vallerie and Hillary also but I don't think anyone would be cool with not putting Gendron as her last name. I have zero interest in putting Gendron as her last name.

Here is the photo I am going to use (unless you have better):
I have to let them know if I'm going to do this by Monday - April 14th. I'm going to think about it.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Dad,

You're not here on earth and are now an angel in heaven. Never-the-less, even though you're not physically here - this day is no less special or happy. We are all happy that 71 years ago today this great guy, David G. Holloway, was born. And we are grateful for the time God let us spend with him.

But all is not lost, we will see you again in heaven one day. In the meantime, we know you're always here with us in spirit.

Genjer loves her Dad!

Jazzmin's Mechanical Physics Fun

I bought, eh-hem, Santa brought Jazzmin some activity kits he knew she'd like - one of which was this physics kit:We hadn't gotten around to using this "Physics Discovery" so I brought it with me to Brenda's over Easter weekend. Just thought I'd show you a couple of the projects Jazz and Aunt Brenda put together. The first one utilizes gears to move the "windmill blade(s)" around when the string is pulled. The other is a project demonstrating velocity - it was like a stationary sling shot.

For Birthday 71... Thinking about Dad

This is the poem I read at Dad's memorial - I was lucky to find this one as it fits Dad.

The Road Not Taken
by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveller, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth.

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same.

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubt I should ever comeback.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I --
I took the road less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Imagine - 1 year ago, come Thursday, Dad was alive and enjoying a great 70th birthday party.

What a difference a year makes. :(

Jazz's Glasses & Connecticut Excursion

I brought Jazzmin to the optimologist on Friday to find out if the dizziness from reading was due to her need for glasses. The doctor did a very thorough exam and concluded that Jazzmin has perfect vision. She said that Jazzmin's eyes are probably just tired from 'over use' due to the extra reading in 4th grade. Something her son also went through. She prescribed reading glasses for Jazzmin and said that the problem should eventually go away. Here are the frames she chose - but the one she chose purple not brown.

After that we were on our way to CT and arrived there around 7pm. While at Brenda's we played rock band (gave our characters much needed make overs). I tried to play on the hard level for a few easy songs and managed not to fail out of most of the songs. But I still have a ways to go to play on hard regularly. Brenda and Jazz did a few of the projects from the physics set she got for christmas. I took pictures with Brenda's camera so as soon as she sends them to me - I will post them. She learned about velocity and gears through the projects.

We went to see the doctor seuss movie - the channel 7 entertainment guy raved about the film. But the movie wasn't all of that - could've waited to see it on video. But at least Jazzmin enjoyed it. I think Brenda enjoyed it too.

We went home on Sunday and thankfully I took Monday off - I hate to go to work the next day after arriving home late the night before. Jazzmin's Grandma Simon picked her up in the afternoon so she could watch Jazzmin today. Her grandmother offered to keep her for the rest of the week and I agreed. Will be good for Jazz to spend time with her - since she gets to see her so rarely. Hopefully there are enough activities at her grandma's so she won't be bored.

Brenda's New Blog

I don't think Brenda shared the URL of her new blog - other then including it in the comment section of one of my posts. So I thought I'd post it so you would be sure to see it.

This blog is not about gaming (yeah!) and more about what is going on in Brenda World.

Read and enjoy!

Strange Hillary Holloway Pics on the Net

Imagine my surprise when I decide to search Google for other people named Hillary Holloway - when I see a link saying "Strange Hillary Holloway Pictures". Esp. since every Hillary Holloway link is actually about my sister and not somebody with the same name. With bated breath I open the link, wondering what strange pics of my sister are lingering around the internet. The the link opens - phew! It's a picture combining Hillary Clinton and actor Josh Holloway. (wipes brow)

@Family - bet you never knew that Brenda was secretly a black woman who sang motown tunes in the 60s. Oh.... there is so much I don't know about my sister....
